    Cerium oxide (CeO₂) is a high-performance rare earth thermal stabilizer specifically engineered for silicone rubber applications. It functions through a unique dual mechanism: its reversible Ce³⁺/Ce⁴⁺ redox cycling provides regenerative radical scavenging, while its oxygen storage capacity and surface defects enable effective suppression of thermal oxidative degradation during prolonged high-temperature service.

【Product features】

(1) CeO₂ has good oxygen storage through controlling the surface activity of CeO₂, thus restrain the oxidation of side chain.

(2) CeO₂ and silicone rubber has good compatibility which is helpful for them mixing fully, through controlling the size and surface characteristics of CeO₂.

【Application methods】

    The addition of ceria into silicone rubber can prevent the side chain from oxidative crosslinking and main chain cyclization degradation. In a certain temperature range, it can prevent the free radical reaction produced by oxidation in the silicone rubber, and can regenerate under the action of oxygen in the air; by absorbing some trace acid or alkaline substances which can catalyze the degradation reaction in the silicone rubber, it plays a thermal stability role on the silicone rubber. At the same time, the special electronic structure (f electron layer is not filled) of ceria makes it easy to form complex. The complex can inhibit the swelling of rubber in solvent by preventing the movement of rubber molecules, thus improving the oil resistance of rubber.
